The miraculous statue of Birhen sa Cotta was brought to the City in the 1700s. It was originally housed in the Cotta Fort and transferred to the Immaculate Concepcion Church. The image mysteriously disappeared in the 1970s.
In 2016, it was found in Manila by an antique collector and returned to Ozamiz on December 8, 2017, the feast of the Birhen sa Cotta, in an emotional homecoming attended by thousands of pilgrims. Birhen sa Cotta remains one of the most visited religious sites in Mindanao.

Placed in the “Tagaytay of the South”—where the climate welcomes you with a fresh cool breeze, fogs start creeping on the way up, and the air gets cooler—lies the overlooking view-deck landscape of Hoyohoy Hills, located at the outskirts of Ozamiz on top of the Fertig Hills, Barangay Hoyohoy in Tangub City. The word “Hoyohoy” means “Fresh Air” in the vernacular, and it is seated at the foot of Mount Malindang, a complex volcano located in the province of Misamis Occidental.

Be transported back in time on a visit to over 100 original ancestral houses dating as far back as the 1800s, which can only be found in the mystical heritage town of Jimenez, Misamis Occidental. One of the most prominent ancestral houses is the Tac-an House, also known as “Casa de Ozamiz.” The house was originally a residence of the Aldren Tac-An Nacion Family that was built in 1914 and was used as a printing press, now called the Old Bacarro Printing Press Building, during the Japanese occupation, where emergency money was printed. Some of the printed money can still be seen on the house’s second floor.

The Baliangao Protected Landscape and Seascape (BPLS), located along the shore of Danao Bay, showcases the pristine splendor of Misamis Occidental. It spans 309.5 hectares and is home to thirty-nine colorful fish species, seagrass, and coral reef ecosystems.
It also provides shelter and serves as a nesting ground for several waterbird species and the common egret, making it one of the most important natural protected areas in the region. Just a kilometer off the town center of Sapang Dalaga nestles an alluring 60-foot tall waterfall. From Baga Falls, it was renamed Sapang Dalaga Falls, which means ‘‘Sapa ng Dalaga’’ or ‘‘the maiden’s creek,’’ as old folks claimed to witness a beautiful maiden, whom they believed to be an Engkanto, bathe at the creek near the area every six in the evening. Beyond the mystical tale, this wonder charms locals and visitors to take a thrilling jump from its rocks or a refreshing dip into its cool, deep waters. Embellished with a sitting woman’s statue and mini bridge, the place is positioned to become an accessible park with this majestic waterfall as the centerpiece against a lush setting.

It is approximately 25 meters high with the abundant greenery of Mount Balabag draping the waterfalls. It is approximately a 2-hour, 15-minute drive from Oroquieta City.
