BIRHEN SA COTTA

📍Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental

The miraculous statue of Birhen sa Cotta was brought to the City in the 1700s. It was originally housed in the Cotta Fort and transferred to the Immaculate Concepcion Church. The image mysteriously disappeared in the 1970s.
In 2016, it was found in Manila by an antique collector and returned to Ozamiz on December 8, 2017, the feast of the Birhen sa Cotta, in an emotional homecoming attended by thousands of pilgrims. Birhen sa Cotta remains one of the most visited religious sites in Mindanao.

HOW TO GET THERE:
From Ozamiz City Airport or any point in Ozamiz City, a motorcab will take you to the Birhen sa Cotta Shrine. The site is just a walking distance from the seaport of Ozamiz. One may also take a pedicab within the city proper.
