
LAKE DUMINAGAT

Numerous hikers are drawn to the natural wonders and unspoiled beauty of Lake Duminagat’s fresh and pleasant setting. It also characterizes flora and fauna of the Zamboanga biogeographic region, which is located in Mt. Malindang Natural Park, one of the Philippines’ protected areas. Barangay Lake Duminagat and Barangay Gandawan are the two communities adjacent to it.
Lake Duminagat holds a central place in the spiritual life of the Subanon people, an indigenous group who have lived in parts of the Zamboanga Peninsula since pre-Hispanic times and who look at the lake as a sacred source of healing water.
HOW TO GET THERE:
Begin at the Municipal Government of Don Victoriano and ride a motorcycle with a fee for transportation and a guided whole-day tour. The trip will last 50 minutes, with a maximum of four local communities visited; the drop-off point will be the Lake Duminagat drop-off area. Upon arrival, expect an estimated 30-minute trek to Lake Duminagat.
