PASTEL DE CAMIGUIN

📍Camiguin

No one leaves Camiguin Island without a box of the legendary Pastel de Camiguin, a small soft coffee bun with a surprising and unforgettable yema (custard) filling. This well-loved Filipino pastry phenomenon started as a small business venture by Camiguinon Eleanor Popera Jose with a capital of P120. The VJANDEP pastel rose from its humble beginnings into one of the most coveted pasalubong products in Northern Mindanao. Every visit to the island paradise should be paired with a stopover at the VJANDEP bakeshop for a box or more of these sweet delights. Over the years, Pastel has incorporated other flavors such as chocolate, mango, durian, ube, and cheese. It is a must-try with Camiguin’s traditional “tablea” hot chocolate.
