ABBEY OF THE TRANSFIGURATION
📍San Jose, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon
Our Lady of Montserrat Abbey of the Transfiguration is a faith-building attraction and is considered one of the greatest examples of a Benedictine church, attracting a huge number of tourists during Holy Week. It is also one of the final masterpieces of the National Artist for Architecture, Leandro Locsin.
Explore the two-story museum, which exhibits an exceptional vestment collection constructed from textiles weaved by the Philippines’ diverse ethnolinguistic communities. Dom Martin Gomez, formerly known as Gang Gomez, a renowned couturier in the 1970s, meticulously designed these vestments through research. To wrap up your visit, have a sip of their famed Monk’s Blend Coffee, freshly roasted from the Abbey grounds.
HOW TO GET THERE:
Take a bus ride from the CDO Agora Bus Terminal bound for Malaybalay City. Once there, take a multi-cab from the terminal to the Abbey of the Transfiguration. There is no direct transportation from the city proper to the monastery, but you can arrange for the multicab driver to take you directly to the monastery.
